As for a note about the formatting and the way I am translating this -- this is of course my first draft of the translation, although I proofread the chapters before posting. With that being said, I am leaving the formatting of the lines and paragraphs exactly the same as to how they are in the Japanese text, primarily because it will save me tons of searchwork when I go back to edit this beast when all is said and done.
There are a lot of place names that appear in the story, as it is set in the Tokugawa Period. There are also some terminology here and there that, if you are completely unfamiliar with Japanese history and culture, may appear a bit daunting. Of course, all of this can be solved with a few trips to wikipedia, so I haven't bothered to put any explanations in the text...mainly because it'd be a distraction, and also because I'm busy enough with the translation alone.
Overall, I hope you enjoy the story. I think it's an excellent piece of literature, and I'm excited to share it all with you. On a curiouser note, I might add that the reason I chose to translate this book is because in reading it, I was shocked with myself. Never before have I sympathized with and understood the feelings of the main character of a novel so much.

And so, the upper volume of Moe Yo Ken comes to an end. It was a lot of hard but fun work, and after all this time I can't believe I'm still only halfway through the whole epic. Unfortunately, I'm going to need to take a break before diving into the second half. First of all, I want to go back and revise this whole part to make it a more readable English novel (and then hopefully get a publisher to pick it up). I also have basically been living, breathing, and sleeping Moe Yo Ken for the past four months, so I really need a little bit of time to relax, read some different genre books, get some sunshine, and basically recharge before I return to the fray. There will be some updates once in a while, I imagine, but the speed will be nothing like it was up until now (since I had a deadline on this) so please try to understand. Hope you enjoyed everything so far, please don't forget the site while I take my little break. Thanks.
